Terms of Service
HeyNotch is free, open source under GPL-3. These terms describe how you can use the app and the heynotch.app website.
The short version
HeyNotch is provided free of charge as open-source software. You can use it for any purpose — personal, commercial, or otherwise — subject to the GNU General Public License v3 (GPL-3).
The website at heynotch.app is provided as-is. We make no warranty about availability or fitness for any particular use.
License
HeyNotch the desktop application is licensed under GPL-3. The full license text is in the project repository at github.com/iamsrikanthnani/heynotch/blob/main/LICENSE.
GPL-3 in plain English: you can use, modify, and redistribute the software, but if you distribute a modified version you must also release the source code under GPL-3.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use heynotch.app or the HeyNotch desktop application to engage in any activity that violates applicable law, infringes on the rights of others, or interferes with the operation of the service.
You are responsible for the content of any scripts you write and the words you read while using HeyNotch on a video call. The application is a passive teleprompter — it does not record audio, capture video, or transmit your scripts.
Disclaimers
HeyNotch is provided 'as is' without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the maintainers disclaim all liability for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the software or the website.
Open-source software has no service-level commitments. There is no obligation to maintain the project, release future versions, or provide support.
Trademarks
'HeyNotch' is a project name and the related branding belongs to its maintainers. You can reference HeyNotch in articles, reviews, and tutorials. You can fork and modify the codebase under GPL-3, but a fork must use a distinct name to avoid confusion.
Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms occasionally. The latest version will always be available at heynotch.app/terms. Continued use of the website or app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
