Privacy Policy

HeyNotch is a local-first desktop application. Your scripts and session logs never leave your device.

Summary

HeyNotch is a desktop teleprompter for macOS and Windows. The app stores all of your data — scripts, variables, session logs, settings — locally on your device. We do not run a cloud service. We do not have an account system. We do not collect telemetry.

This policy describes what limited data the heynotch.app website collects, how the desktop app handles your local data, and your rights.

Information the desktop app handles

Scripts you write, variables you define, session logs HeyNotch records, and any settings you change live exclusively on your computer (in localStorage and a local SQLite database). Nothing is transmitted anywhere.

HeyNotch does not request microphone, camera, or screen-recording permissions. The only optional system permission it may request is Accessibility access on macOS for global keyboard shortcuts — this is opt-in and the app fully works without it.

When the public release ships, version-update checks may contact GitHub Releases to determine if a newer version is available. This is a single anonymous HTTPS request to GitHub's public API; no personal information is sent.

Information the website collects

heynotch.app is hosted statically. We do not set tracking cookies, run third-party analytics, or use fingerprinting techniques.

Standard server-access logs may be retained by the hosting provider (currently Vercel) for operational purposes. These logs typically include IP address, timestamp, and the requested URL. We do not link these logs to identities.

If you submit your email to the waitlist (when available), we store your email in our hosted backend solely to notify you when HeyNotch is publicly released. We do not sell, share, or use it for unrelated marketing.

Cookies

The website does not set any analytics or advertising cookies. The only cookies in use, if any, are technical session cookies your browser may set in support of standard HTTPS behaviour or content delivery — these cannot be used to track you.

Your rights

Because HeyNotch stores your data on your own device, you can delete everything by uninstalling the app and clearing the application support directory.

If you have submitted your email to the waitlist and want it removed, contact us through GitHub Issues at github.com/iamsrikanthnani/heynotch/issues and we will delete it within 14 days.

Open source

HeyNotch is open source under GPL-3. You can read every line of code that touches your scripts and session logs at github.com/iamsrikanthnani/heynotch.
